Nicola S. Morris Joins WEX as SVP, Corporate Development

Morris brings more than 20 years of global business strategy and development experience

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 2014-- WEX Inc. (NYSE: WEX), a leading provider of corporate payment solutions, today announced Nicola S. Morris has joined the company as senior vice president, corporate development. Morris will be responsible for managing corporate development and strategic planning, directing corporate marketing, and overseeing early stage product development.

“With more than 20 years of experience in global business strategy, business development, and marketing, Nicola will be a critical asset to WEX,” said Melissa D. Smith, president and chief executive officer of WEX. “She will play a main role in the company’s continued global expansion, focusing on our long-term corporate development. Additionally, her deep expertise in technology-intensive business models will lend support to our innovation goals in new and existing markets."

Prior to joining WEX, Morris held several positions of increasing responsibility at Verizon Communications. Most recently, she was vice president, global corporate strategy. Morris also worked at MCI, Incorporated; Digex, Incorporated; Iridium LLC; and, The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) where she gained diverse business experience.

Nicola graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., with a B.A. in Economics and Chinese Language, and earned an M.A. in International Affairs from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies.
