Wright Express Forms Alliance with Tax Compliance Firm

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE (December 19, 2002) - Wright Express has formed a strategic alliance with CIC-Steps Enterprises to provide critical fuel tax compliance services to fleets, a move that will help fleets save time and money through reduced paperwork and electronic reporting.

The alliance with Indiana-based CIC will provide a variety of services to fleets of all sizes, including fuel tax reporting, licensing, permitting, title management and motor fuel tax recovery.

Wright Express will electronically provide CIC with fleet data and information taken from actual transactions to facilitate tax reporting on behalf of fleets. This electronic data exchange will greatly reduce the time-consuming and costly manual-entry method now used by many fleets. Wright Express is the industry leader in point-of-sale fleet card data collection.

For Wright Express, a key part of the alliance is IFTA tax reporting, a service important to all heavy truck fleets with trucks in excess of 26,000 pounds. The service, which includes reporting to state and federal authorities, will bolster Wright Express efforts to move aggressively into the heavy truck market.

"This alliance is significant as we seek to increase our business in the heavy truck and bulk fuel markets," said Michael Dubyak, president of Wright Express. "Tax compliance is an important, but extremely time-consuming and tedious requirement for all fleets, particularly the heavy truck market. The ability to offer this service greatly enhances the attractiveness of our fleet card programs to all users for a very simply reason - it will save them money."

CIC has been providing businesses with comprehensive government program services and tax relief incentives to businesses for more than two decades.

Wright Express has unmatched fleet data collection and the amount of information they collect will allow to provide money saving, tax compliance services to a greater number heavy truck fleets that just don't have the time or the money to handle the complex reporting that is necessary.

South Portland-based Wright Express is the leading provider of fleet charge cards to the fleet maintenance and fueling industry with its cards accepted at more than 160,000 locations. Wright Express also provides information management, payment processing, and financial services to fleets through card partnerships. Through its own universal fleet card program, its partners' card programs and its MasterCard program, Wright Express has 3.8 million commercial cards in its markets.
