WEX CONNECT HELPS DRIVERS FIND ACTIVE FUEL AND SERVICE STATIONS
AVAILABLE IN THEIR AREA DURING MAJOR FUEL SHORTAGE SWEEPING THE SOUTHEAST
Free mobile app provides critical information during fuel emergency
creating limited access to fuel and an increase in prices
WEX
Inc. (NYSE: WEX), a global provider of industry-leading corporate
payments solutions, today announced a reminder that its mobile app, WEX
Connect (Android, iPhone, iPad),
is available as a resource during the trying time resulting from the
broken pipeline in Alabama.
The broken pipeline runs from Houston to New York and carries gas to
much of the Southeast and East Coast. After a 330,000 gallon spill
caused the pipeline to rupture, the Southeast region is experiencing a
severe gas shortage and rising fuel prices. Alabama, Georgia, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia have all declared a
current state of emergency.
WEX Connect assists drivers and fleet managers in the Southeast region
in finding fuel and service stations in operation in their area through
a convenient mobile app available on Android, iPhone and iPad devices.
With WEX Connect, drivers and mangers can find the most cost effective
type of fuel they need, and search for service stations based on brand,
distance and service type.
“The current predicament in the Southeast region requires further
planning for fleet managers and added preparedness from drivers in the
area. As the situation continues to unfold, we want to remind all that
WEX Connect is here as a resource during this trying time when finding
accessible fuel stations is of the upmost importance,” said Bernie
Kavanagh, senior vice president and general manager for North American
fleet for WEX.
WEX Connect obtains its data from WEX’s proprietary fuel management
network, which connects thousands of fuel and service stations across
the United States and delivers up-to-date station information.
Leveraging the pricing date from the fuel purchases made by WEX fleet
card users, the app is able to calculate the most fiscally efficient
fuel station factoring in both price and distance.
